World Affairs Council of Greater Miami was honored and privileged to host a delegation of former Presidents from Latin America for a cocktail reception and private dinner with our Board of Directors, leadership team, and prominent guests. This event fostered open dialogue on partnerships and cooperation between the United States and Latin America on issues of civic engagement, economic development and security. The Presidential delegation was led by Mision Presidencial Latinoamericana in partnership with Global Peace Foundation, Esquipulas Foundation for the Integration of Central America, and included the following Honored Guests:

  • H.E. Alvaro Colom Caballeros, Former President, Republica de Guatemala
  • H.E. Dr. Marco Vinicio Cerezo, Former President, Republica de Guatemala
  • Dr. Eduardo J. Padron, President, Miami Dade College
  • Dr. Michael J. Lenaghan, Mardee Jenrette Endowed Teaching Chair, Miami Dade College
  • Amb. Martin Palous, Director, Vaclav Havel Initiative for Human Rights & Democracy, Florida International University - School of International and Public Affairs
  • H.E. Dr. Bernardino Cano Radil, Paraguayan Ambassador to Cuba
  • Hon. Rosa Maria Merida de Mora, Consul General of Guatemala

Invited guests included diplomats from Latin America and Europe, leading scholars and heads of Miami area universities, and business leaders from South Florida and Washington DC.
