How You can help resolve our Veterans Dilemma
By Edward Sklar, Co-Founder, REBSEA
As a Vet, the sweet sounds of Basic Training are forever etched into my memory:
"Grab your stuff-Put it down, Stop moving-you are not moving fast enough, etc.."
This sense of regimented confusion seems to have carried over to the Veterans Administration, where "Hurry up and Wait" is the order of the day. My experience helping my 88 year old father-in-law (decorated WW2 Vet) apply for Aid and Attendance Benefits was dismal. It took 2 years of constant diligence before he received a payment and this was with the help of our State Senator. For those Veterans needing help in their battles with the V.A. there are many Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) that may be of assistance.
REBSEA first began blogging about the Veterans Administration when Vets were literally 'dying to get in'. Now, a full year since this disaster exploded in the media, the wait for services is widely reported to be even longer. REBSEA Realtor and Business members are supporting VSO's trying to fix this issue, as well as other issues affecting Vets such as employment, housing, suicide prevention, etc.
Many of the Nonprofit VSOs that provide real help to our Vets are frustrated by the lack of funds needed to support their missions. The solution is simple. Donations are the key to help these VSOs help our Veterans.
Please find below REBSEA Nonprofit Organizations focused on helping our Veterans:
  • ABS Community Research / Veterans1 (FL/DC)
  • Woman Veterans Unity Group (CA)
  • Operation Heroes Connect (VA)
  • The Arms Forces (OH)
  • H4-Hounds Helping Heroes Heal (TX)
  • Veterans Care (NV)
  • Veteran to Civilian Inspections & Improvements (VA)
  • Fans of America Foundation (CO)
  • Veterans Suicide Prevention Channel (TX)
  • Helios Warriors (NC)
How can You make a sizeable donation to a Nonprofit VSO without taking any money from your personal account? Work with a REBSEA member who will Donate a portion of their commission/income to a Nonprofit organization.
Please help resolve the Dilemma facing our Veterans by working with a REBSEA member. Find a REBSEA member in your town: REBSEA Member Directory

ABSNetwork Online Directory for Veterans, VSOs, and Volunteers
Through community outreach as part of the Veterans1 Campaign there is a growing consensus among VSOs, local VA offices, and veteran advocates that the system is so vast and complex, challenges to balance claims processing, health and human services, career change, financial management, personal legal issues, professional training and more is so overwhelming that it is easy for anyone to become easily lost.
ABSNetwork is an online directory with personal referral support providing resources to veterans, VSOs, and volunteers in a manner of localized and individualized care. This is a pilot program providing resources in the following areas:
VSOs for VA Claims, Employment Opportunities, Vocational Transition, Health & Human Services, Legal Aid and Veterans Courts, Other
ABS Community Research develops these resources with the Veterans1 initiative, is screening and doing background reviews of organizations, and engages direct contact with directory users to provide personal assistance. The directory is under construction, currently geared towards national level resources, and toward local areas where we are collaborating with veterans groups and retired military volunteers.
Pilot Directory:

ABS was founded in 2001, and is a US nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. ABS focuses on research and development in partnerships between health and human services, education, labor, and justice in the US and Abroad.
