Rebuild Haiti: Small Gifts for Holy Church of Grace Mission

In the remote, rural areas of Haiti, far removed from the urban centers like the capitol Port-au-Prince, the Haitian communities are required to walk 20 miles in order to receive humanitarian assistance, and medical aid. Such a distance to walk when one is ill, is life-threatening.

Our friends at Holy Church of Grace in south Florida have an ongoing mission to Haiti, lead by Associate Pastor Sonel Mesadieu, and have recently returned from their mission. A few weeks before Pastor Sonel's departure, fellow Haitian-American church leader Bebe, sister to lead Pastor Frantz Lamour, kindly asked us for support in providing basic toiletry items. These little things like tissue paper, handy-wipes, women's health products are so difficult to come by, but the promotion of personal hygiene reduces risk of disease, and supports the livelihood of those remote Haitian communities.

After the church leadership welcomed me to meet their members and discuss larger needs in water, medical development for rural clinics, food security through agriculture, alternative energy for electricity, safety and other matters. The number of people who stood up to volunteer for their home country, including the readiness to break ground and restore local farming, welcoming community members back to work in rural areas from the cities where they have flown in desperation, was nothing less than Divine. I was so moved by the passion and commitment of the church members in protecting the needs of their people, the potency was beyond unprecedented. I went directly to Costo, got as much as I could for about $100.

This very, very little amount - $100 in tissue paper, wash cloths, handy-wipes, and women's health products went directly into the sincerely grateful hands of leading women in the rural area, hand delivered by Pastor Sonel. Please see the pictures below.

Through their gracious openness, we are working on developing a coalition for water and food security in Haiti, through inter-faith coalition also with secular organizations. Please contact me if you would like to participate in rebuilding Haiti through coalition also with remote areas.
