In recognition of her ongoing collaboration with Universal Peace Federation through their Washington DC Office of Peace and Security, Velma Anne Ruth, M.Ed., President of ABS Community Research, Inc and Executive Director of Middle East Democracy Federation was appointed by UPF as an Ambassador for Peace. Velma joins a network of over 20,000 Ambassadors for Peace throughout over 163 nations who are dedicated to advocating for peoples, promoting nonviolent solutions to conflicts that plague our world, and advancing the mission of the United Nations. Ambassadors for Peace are diverse ranging from prominent government officials, diplomats, philanthropists, scholars, leaders of ethnic NGOs, and other professionals committed to promoting stability in their country and internationally. This appointment is recognized by the United Nations as official diplomatic status with no term limits. Universal Peace Federation has special NGO consultative status to the UN Economic and Social Council, engaging many UN activities in Washington DC.
